FEBRUARY 4: “Portraits of Power” Artist’s Talk with Alejandro Almaraz, Daytona Beach

Join Argentinean photographer Alejandro Almaraz and photography critic Vicki Goldberg for a panel discussion and reception from 6-8 p.m. at the Southeastern Museum of Photography, Florida’s most comprehensive photography museum and the largest in the Southeast. Almarez’s exhibition, which runs until February 15, layers source material from paintings and photographic portraits of world leaders into powerful single images. The museum is located at 1200 W. FEBRUARY 15: 12th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade, Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, Destin

Mardi Gras is doggone fun when costumed dogs and their humans take to the streets in Sandestin’s Village of Baytowne Wharf at 2 p.m. on February 15.  Beads and parade favors will be thrown from themed convertibles, small floats (pulled by masters), golf carts, bicycles, and decorated wagons in a Mardi Gras celebration like you’ve never seen before. The Mardi Gras dog parade is one of the premier canine events on the Emerald Coast with members of the four-pawed community coming far and wide to participate in the event that is open to the public. FEBRUARY 19-22: 14th Annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Miami

Sponsored by the Food Network & Cooking Channel, this year’s festival will feature more than 75 events during the four-day, star-studded gourmet gathering. The iconic white tents located beachside between 10th Street and 13th Street off of the historic Ocean Drive will feature more seating and shaded areas, live music and DJs. Free park-and-ride areas from downtown Miami will be offered. FEBRUARY 19-22: 18th Annual Mount Dora Music Fest Grammy Winners Weekend, Mount Dora

It’s a music-filled weekend in the charming Central Florida city of Mount Dora when recording artists Suzy Bogguss, Melissa Manchester, and Jack Jones take the stage at the Mount Dora Community Building, 520 N.
