The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is a weekend of Jazz that is the “second-largest jazz festival in the nation” according to Superpages and that, according to the Jacksonville Times-Union, has been dubbed by “experts” as “one of the 20 best in the nation.” Friday night, May 24 marks the beginning of FREE jazz performances on multiple stages in the heart of downtown by BWB – Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown; Trombone Shorty; Euge Groove; The Yellowjackets; Poncho Sanchez and more during Memorial Day Weekend! The Art in the Heart Downtown Art Show will also be open along with jazz exhibits and displays to start the festival weekend.

The festival includes The Great American Jazz Piano Competition which takes place at the Florida Theatre on Thursday evening of the festival weekend. The winner will play a featured set on the main stage on Saturday, May 25. During the art show, the audience can view the work of prize-winning artisans and master craftspeople from around the nation while listening to world renowned jazz artists.

New this year, the City of Jacksonville will bring to you “Jazz after Dark”. Following the last act of the festival lineup each night, May 24-26, enjoy even more live Jazz from 10 p.m. till 2 a.m. Participating bars and clubs are located within a couple of blocks from the Jazz Fest stages and admission is free!

New this year, the City of Jacksonville will bring to you an “Off Jazz” Concert. Start your festival weekend on Friday, May 24 with the soulful sounds of R&B singers Brian McKnight and Avant. Tickets are $38.50 (plus applicable fees). Tickets may be purchased at The Florida Theatre Box Office or at www. ticketmaster.com. The Florida Theatre Box Office is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
